Meath Women’s Refuge & Support Services to Become Willow Domestic Abuse Services

NEWS -
January 22, 2026

Meath Women’s Refuge & Support Services has announced that it will officially change its name to Willow Domestic Abuse Services, with the new name coming into effect on 11 March 2026.

The new name and associated brand have been thoughtfully chosen to reflect the organisation’s evolution and to represent the full scope of its services. Designed to be warm and inclusive, it aims to ensure that any woman or child seeking support can see themselves in the name and feel confident that help is available.

Speaking about the change, Frances Haworth, CEO, said:

“This is a significant milestone for our organisation and a change that has been carefully considered by both the staff and board over the past two years, in consultation with women and children. Willow is a symbol of strength, healing, and growth — values we see in the women and children we work with every day. It better reflects our breadth of services, and helps us to be a more visible, inclusive and supportive organisation for every woman and child affected by domestic violence and abuse in Co. Meath.”

Importantly, this change is in name and brand only. There will be no changes to the organisation’s team, services, or supports. Willow Domestic Abuse Services will continue to offer the same services under the same mandate.

To mark this moment and celebrate almost four decades of service in Co. Meath, Willow Domestic Abuse Services will host an event on 11 March 2026 to formally launch the new name and brand.

Community members, partners, stakeholders, and supporters are warmly invited to “Courage & Hope” at the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan. The event will feature a conversation with Roisín O’Donnell, author of the bestselling novel Nesting, a thought-provoking panel discussion hosted by Elaine Keogh, and live music. The event will honour the organisation’s history, celebrate progress, and look ahead to the future.

Registration is now open. Full details can be found here:
